Derivatives Daily Update: July 31 2012


Better Day: July 31, 2012

Nifty Futures closed higher by 23.85 points at 5240.55. Bank Nifty closed lower by 36.95 points at 10435.30. Open Interest in Nifty across all the series was up by 1.80 Lakh shares at 2.37 Cr shares. Turnover was up at Rs 1.13 trillion. Put Call Ratio was slightly lower at 1.03 for Index & Stock Options across all the series and was at 1.36 for Nifty alone in current series. Volatility as measured by India VIX was down by 4% at 16.01 and Dollar Rupee pair was trading at 55.72. In all it was a better day for Bulls.

Today too we have closed higher which indicates we are heading for higher levels. As of now 5100 should be considered as important support for Bulls and one can buy with stop loss of 5100 with potential target of 5350.

Top five individual stocks which gained today were ESSAROIL 10%, MCDOWEELL 5%, CESC 5%, BAJAJHLDG 5% & ZEEL 4%.

Top five individual stocks which lost ground were SKUMARSYNF -6%, TITAN -5%, BALRAMCHIN -4%, JINDALSAW -4% & SUZLON -4%.

Top five individual stocks which attracted higher volumes were SBIN, ICICIBANK, AXISBANK, TATAMOTORS & TITAN.

Top five individual options which attracted higher activity today were SBIN 2100CE, SBIN 2000PE, SBIN 2000CE, SBIN 2050CE & SBIN 1900PE.
Nifty option series where POSITIVE change in open interest was seen were 5200CE (2.49 LK) 5300CE (4.97 LK) 5400CE (2.80 LK) 5500CE (2.81 LK) 5600CE (4.32 LK) 4700PE (4.90 LK) 4800PE (11.72 LK)0 4900PE (4.40 LK) 5100PE (5.31 LK) 5200PE (8.07 LK) 5300PE (2.36 LK)

Nifty option series where NEGATIVE change in open interest was seen were 4600PE (5.98 LK)

Outstanding open interest in Out of the Money Call Options stood at 2.02 Cr shares and that of Put Options stood at 3.79 Cr shares. Outstanding open interest in In the Money Call Options stood at 1.15 Cr shares and that of Put Options stood at 50.40 LK shares. Put Call Ratio of current series alone stands at 1.36.
